2018 VETERAN'S BREAKFAST
Pledge to Humanity and the San Ramon Valley Varsity Basketball team served up a great pancake breakfast for some 40 of our Danville veterans on Saturday, 13 January. It was a great meal and great conversation with the 15 team members, coaches and parents that put on the event. If you missed it you missing a great function. We hope to do it again.

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA
Our Post is supporting the Republican Womens Club in wreath laying at the Alamo cemetery as part of the nationwide Wreaths Across America program to be held on Saturday, 15 December at 12:00pm at the cemetery, 912 El Portal, Danville.
We do need volunteers to unload about 25 large boxes from a semi-truck into a trailer some time just before the 15th (date & time TBD), then unload the trailer at the cemetery on the morning of the 15th. Flag bearers for the American, POW/MIA, and 6 service flags are needed that morning. CALL ME!!!
We would also like to see as many of you as possible to attend and place a wreath on a grave of a deceased veteran; there are over 200 in this cemetery!
VETERAN'S MEMORIAL BUILDING FUNDRAISER
6 Aug -The proceeds from this event fund our operations of the VMB and thus avoids the individual VSOs providing that funding. So come out enjoy a great Italian dinner all graciously served to you by your fellow veterans! Leave big tips!! Call Gianni's for a reservation.
DISTRICT 9 BBQ AT VA CLINIC MARTINEZ
District 9, including Post 246, hosted its annual BBQ for the Martinez VA Clinic in-patients and staff on Sunday, 8 Oct. It was a great opportunity to step up the American Legion slogan of "continuing to serve". Special thanks go out to our members Mark Heinemann, Bob Sada, Henry Miguel, Randy and Carol Reid, and Eric and Mary Ardell who help bring a little joy to these in-patient veterans. Check out the event pictures on our website.
BOYS AND GIRLS STATE RECOGNITION LUNCHEON
The luncheon was a big success! Thanks to the great efforts of Michelle Lee and Alan Scharlach in putting on the event. Thank you also to those members who attended and help put the program on.
This year all of our delegates held offices, notably our Girls State ambassador from Dougherty Valley High was elected Governor!
Ken Mintz, SRV Unified School District, commented afterwards that he was glad he came to the event and was very impressed with the program and students.
