11 NOVEMBER -- VMB VETERANS DAY OBSERVANCE

Saturday the VMB will host the annual Veterans Day Observance at San Ramon High School starting at 10:00 am. We will provide stage decorations as usual.

This year's program will honor Gulf War on Terror, GWOT veterans. We would really like to see a large turnout of our members; this day is for US and all those before us and those that will follow us. Let's pack the house this year and wear American Legion uniform items!

DISTRICT 9 BBQ AT VA CLINIC MARTINEZ

District 9, including Post 246, hosted its annual BBQ for the Martinez VA Clinic in-patients and staff on Sunday, 8 Oct.  It was a great opportunity to step up the American Legion slogan of "continuing to serve".   Special thanks go out to our members Mark Heinemann, Bob Sada, Henry Miguel, Randy and Carol Reid, and Eric and Mary Ardell who help bring a little joy to these in-patient veterans.  Check out the event pictures on our website.  

14 OCTOBER -- DISTRICT 9 MEMBERSHIP REVITILIZATION

Members of all District posts will join us in Danville to put out a campaign of letters to ask American Legion Post 1000 members to transfer to a local post in the District. We have the Commander of District 22 in San Diego coming to us to lead the effort. Call us, tell us you can join us Saturday morning at 8:30 am to get these letters out and potentially make some phone calls. Membership needs everyone's help!

VMB FUNDRAISER AT GIANNI'S RESTAURANT

5 NOVEMBER -- PLEASANTON 2017 VETERANS DAY PARADE

Let's put together a color guard and AL banner team for the Pleasanton 2017 Veterans Day Parade November 5th at 1:00 PM. Theme: Medics in the Military

Requirement: 6-8 members to carry flags and the banner .

Breakfast is on Vice Commander Ardell for those who arrive by 10:30am!!

12 NOVEMBER -- ELKS THANK YOU VETERANS DINNER

Walnut Creek Elks Lodge #1811 is serving free dinner for active duty and veterans on Sunday 12 November starting at 2:00 pm.  Reservations are required.  See the flyer on the Events page of our website for more information.

7 NOVEMBER -- CONTRA COSTA COUNTY SUPERVISORS VETERANS APPRECIATION

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors will hold a Veterans Day Recognition event at the Supervisors' Chamber in Martinez on Tuesday, 7 November at 11:00 am.  Let us know if you will attend.

10, 11, 12 NOVEMBER -- VMB OPEN HOUSE AND MUSEUM

Come visit the VMB for this 3-day open house commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Doolittle Raid. 

BOYS AND GIRLS STATE LUNCHEON

On Sunday 1 Oct, we held a special luncheon meeting to recognize and honor our Boys State delegates and Girls State ambassadors.   As in past years, it is always inspiring to hear about the experiences of these young adults.   If you did not attend, you really did miss a most enjoyable event.  Please see our website for pictures of the event.  I know Melvin DeMello, Ron Lowe, Ron and Evelyn Roe, Gary Soto, John Rowe, Ron Farrell, Alan Scharlach, Michelle Lee, Randy Reid, and Eric and Mary Ardell all enjoyed the event.

10 NOVEMBER -- PANCAKE BREAKFAST FOR VETERANS

Friday of Veterans Day weekend, Assemblywoman Catharine Baker and her staff prepare and serve a buffet pancake breakfast for veterans and their families from 8:00 to 10:00 am at the Veterans Memorial Building in the upstairs meeting room.
