29 April to 3 May - Las Positas College Veterans First Program is honored to host "The Eyes of Freedom" traveling memorial, April 29th to May 3, 2019 at the Mertes Center of the Arts (Bldg. 4000) lobby.
There will be an opening ceremony for this amazing tribute, on April 29th @ 10 AM, in front of the Mertes Center of the Arts.
Livermore, CA, April, 29th.This powerful traveling memorial consisting of 8 life-sized portraits of 23 fallen servicemen from OH based Lima Company 3/25 during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005, Honors ALL Who Answer Our Nation's Call; Then, Now and Tomorrow. Delivered to you by R+L Carriers, their eyes reflect the hundreds of thousands of men and women who have sacrificed while defending our freedom. The memorial is free and open to the public; however parking is $3.
This memorial of Lima Company is sponsored by the Safeway Foundation, Las Positas College Veterans First Program, Las Positas College Student Veterans Organization, and the Pleasanton Military Families.

19 May, Sunday - High School Swearing-in Ceremony - Hosted by American Legion and VFW. Will need support from committee, post members, other VSOs, Boy Scouts for color guard, set up / clean up, etc. Attendance is strongly suggested.
27 May, Saturday - VNVDV Memorial Day Observance at Oak Hill Park. Recommend attendance.
3 July, Wednesday - Post Officers Installation by Past Natl Commander Dale Barnett
4 July, Thursday - Kiwanis Independence Day Parade, Grand Marshall will be Past National Commander Dale Barnett, he will be riding in a 1919 Ford Touring Car! We really want to see as many of you as possible to join us and ride in several vehicles for our use. Please email Eric now with your commitment to participate. Let's show the Dale and the 40,000 parade attendees our pride in our post and the American Legion.

VETERAN'S MEMORIAL BUILDING FUNDRAISER
6 Aug -The proceeds from this event fund our operations of the VMB and thus avoids the individual VSOs providing that funding. So come out enjoy a great Italian dinner all graciously served to you by your fellow veterans! Leave big tips!! Call Gianni's for a reservation.
BOYS AND GIRLS STATE RECOGNITION LUNCHEON
The luncheon was a big success! Thanks to the great efforts of Michelle Lee and Alan Scharlach in putting on the event. Thank you also to those members who attended and help put the program on.
This year all of our delegates held offices, notably our Girls State ambassador from Dougherty Valley High was elected Governor!
Ken Mintz, SRV Unified School District, commented afterwards that he was glad he came to the event and was very impressed with the program and students.

EBSD dates are September 13-16, 2018 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.
2018 VETERAN'S BREAKFAST
Pledge to Humanity and the San Ramon Valley Varsity Basketball team served up a great pancake breakfast for some 40 of our Danville veterans on Saturday, 13 January. It was a great meal and great conversation with the 15 team members, coaches and parents that put on the event. If you missed it you missing a great function. We hope to do it again.
DISTRICT 9 BBQ AT VA CLINIC MARTINEZ
District 9, including Post 246, hosted its annual BBQ for the Martinez VA Clinic in-patients and staff on Sunday, 8 Oct. It was a great opportunity to step up the American Legion slogan of "continuing to serve". Special thanks go out to our members Mark Heinemann, Bob Sada, Henry Miguel, Randy and Carol Reid, and Eric and Mary Ardell who help bring a little joy to these in-patient veterans. WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA
Our Post is supporting the Republican Womens Club in wreath laying at the Alamo cemetery as part of the nationwide Wreaths Across America program to be held on Saturday, 15 December at 12:00pm at the cemetery, 912 El Portal, Danville.
We do need volunteers to unload about 25 large boxes from a semi-truck into a trailer some time just before the 15th (date & time TBD), then unload the trailer at the cemetery on the morning of the 15th. Flag bearers for the American, POW/MIA, and 6 service flags are needed that morning. CALL ME!!!
We would also like to see as many of you as possible to attend and place a wreath on a grave of a deceased veteran; there are over 200 in this cemetery!
