SAN RAMON MILITARY BANNER PROGRAM ADMINSTERED BY AMERICAN LEGION MT. DIABLO POST 246

FOR SAN RAMON RESIDENTS ONLY

Military Banner Program Description:

The San Ramon Military Banner Program honors local veterans, active-duty, and retired members of the U.S. armed forces. Applicants or Sponsors must be San Ramon Residents.

Applications to sponsor for display year 2026 will be accepted August 1, 2026, through September 15, 2026, or until all spaces are filled, whichever comes first.

Banners will be displayed in an area on San Ramon Valley Blvd. determined by the City of San Ramon and for a minimum duration of 30 days through the month of November.  Any organization or individual can sponsor a Veteran’s banner. After the period of display, Banners will be presented to the sponsors.  

The program will be posted through the American Legion Mt. Diablo Post 246 and the City of San Ramon websites. (www.americanlegionpost246.org www.sanramon.ca.gov) American Legion Mt. Diablo Post 246 will operate the Program and Applications verifications.

Sponsors and current San Ramon residents can honor family members with a banner featuring:

1. Name

2. Rank

3. Service Branch

4. Duty Status

5. Photo of Honoree in uniform

COSTS

The cost for a single banner is $225.00. Banners will be 30” x 94” and are double sided with your Veteran’s photograph. Some poles will hold two separate Banners. If the applicant sponsors two (2) separate Veteran Banners on a double banner pole, the cost reduces to $390.00 per pole ($195.00 per Banner). Payment will not be due until your application is approved, military service is verified, and space is confirmed available Once the application is accepted, staff will contact the applicant for payment. Payment must be made within ten (10) days. Payment can only be made by check, Check must be made payable to American Legion Mt. Diablo Post 246 P.O. Box 133, Danville, CA, 94526. Please insure “Banner Program” is listed on the memo line of the check. Once the check clears, the banner will be manufactured.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Once all locations have been reserved, the application period will close. Please note, pursuant to City of San Ramon policy, sponsor/applicant’s names will not appear on the banner.

Criteria:

To qualify for the San Ramon Military Banner Program, the following criteria must be met:

1. For the inaugural year 2026, Priority will be given to Veterans who are deceased. There after the program will be for active duty, retired (honorably discharged and general discharged under honorable conditions) or a Veteran of the U.S. armed forces.

2. The Honoree must be a current resident in of the City of San Ramon or have immediate family members residing in the city (spouse, domestic partner, parent, sibling, child, or grandchild).

3. The Honoree can also be former San Ramon resident with a demonstrated long-term, positive impact on the San Ramon community (subject to approval by the City of San Ramon). (such as a public servant, doctor, or other community professional)

4. Proof of residency for Applicant/sponsor

After completing the application, attach the following documents and email all items to

1. Verification of military status

            To verify military status, please visit the Department of War website

          (https://www.war.gov and submit a copy of the verification page with your

           application. For military veterans, please include a copy of the veteran’s

         DD214 form from the Department of War. If you are unable to locate the

           DD214 form, you may apply for a copy by visiting the National Archives

           website. (https://www.archives.gov)

2. Proof of residency for applicants (such as PG&E bill, EBMUD bill, phone bill)

3. ONLY for non-resident honorees without any immediate family in San Ramon, a concise narrative detailing the honoree’s demonstrated long-term, positive impact on the San Ramon community. (Limit one page PDF or Word Document).

4. Photo of only the honoree in uniform. Photo must be high resolution (150-300 dpi @ 100%) 5” x 7” in size and must be sent electronically (.jpg or .png format) with the application. Hard copies cannot be accepted.

STEP 3:

Once approved, you will be sent an invoice for the sponsorship fee. If there is a discrepancy, you will be notified.
