Post History

Following WWI, local veterans formed American Legion Post 246 when its charter was issued on January 24, 1921. Throughout the years, Post 246 hosted many veterans and community social, recreational, educational, and government functions at the “Legion Hall”. Today, Post 246 collaborates with eight other veterans service organizations as well as the Town of Danville to ensure that the Veterans Memorial Building continues to provide a benefit to our community. The renovated hall is used as a base of operations to meet and raise funds for a wide range of events and programs which support veterans; programs for youth including Scouts, Boys State, Girls State, and High School Oratorical Contests; and much more.
